just rerigged my xr 2002 w/ a 15" mid, ally cut sporty, running a 260(290 hp at pshaft), using a 30 et, pshaft is even w/ the pad, 9" of setback. boat gets up to 110 ok(felt much quicker w/ a bob's case), but will not go faster, at 110 i'm almost to 3/4 throttle, the additional throttle does nothing. any suggestions???

For sure check out what Bill said,Re: box and settings but I would be hard pressed to say that you are lugging the motor. A stock 260 needs to pull 7500-7800 to do it's thing,a modded 260 is going to need more than that. It is not that you don't have power, but getting to the power band is critical for that motor. Now granted I don't have an XR 2002 but on my GS I went from 31p with a hot pro-max to a 26-27p with a stout 260. Boat will handle better and will accelerate like a bat out of he** Top end should follow as well. My experience for what it's worth.

i'm running a brucato acu, my egt(brand new gaffrig) doesn't work, typical!!! darris feels that the litening et is the issue, so i have a hoss triton on the way, but the fuel settings may be wrong, i'll get the egt working before i run the boat again, rpms are around 7600

I agree with TBuck I think a 28 prop would probably be faster. Your motor has more HP than a stock motor but to get all of that power you need to have a prop that will let you spin past 8500 to get to where the power is.

i agree with all of the above and i know on my xb2002 with a ally cut sporty i felt like i started to push the performance level of the case i had at 112 to 113 so i put a xr6 stecky on it and played with motor height and went 117. Now you can spend a couple hundred hours hand sanding the sporty down to were a stock 200 case blow out ring will slip over it and not touch and it will be fast to.

send the 200 to Jerry, if your sporty is cut right leave it alone thats not the issue.

My XR will run 107-8 with a 24 and gets it in a hurry, like I told you before, get a good 14" chopper and let it eat, find a nice 26

Remember Cleinmark ran 126 at the rumble with my 26

one thing i feel(and it may be in my head) is that the boat is no wheres near as quick/fast w/ the sporty compared to the 200 case, what has everyone else found?

I think Tyners best speed is with a stock Sportmaster, if I remember it is 121, maybe he will chime in

Has anyone tried really jacking up the engine with a sportmaster. I would think if you really put it riding on the case instead of thru the water, it would handle alot better and be a good bit faster. I've been wanting to experiment with that for some time but just havent' had the time. I know the water intakes of the sportmaster are further back than those on a coned case and the reason for me wanting to try it is I can run mine out of water pressure but the boat is still responding well to the increased height. Also the stroker owners are really running theirs on the water and are handling well.

I think you have a motor problem, cause even if you run the gearcase below the bottom on that boat it should run easy over 110. Ran mine for 12 years had mod 2.5 carb and 300 drag on it it would run 114 to 116 with a drag race set up and could only drive better if it drove it self. jeff just started with his boat on top end runs, been watching him run for years. he will be in the 130's before you know it. later Larry D

Tyner's XR2002 has a basically stock sporty and he's in the 120's with a pump gas 280 (260 electrics) Not exactly sure where his is height wise, but I'm gonna say wherever it is, it's perfect.

Be sure to check the general section soon for a new speed update too...from what I heard, he set a new record yesterday in that old ski boat.

i found the brucato curve was super rich(from 1500 up to 6500 rpm so far i've taken out 10-15% fuel), got my egt's working, so we'll see, just need the weather conditions to find out

What is the new record? I know 120 is fast, and alot of people have gone 120 in a 2002, starting with Owen Boris in 1986 with a modified 2.4L ran 126, Tiger did it in 1995, I ran 116 in Owen's old Mop VP boat with a 24" and I drove it with a 26 and a 28. I would hate to see what Owen's "record" boat would run with a good 2.5 on it.

Wanna see a fast 2002 anyone got pics of that run.................
