Light at a scream and fly river run I saw one run 100 even down river. Not sure how weight effects them. I believe he said it was a 260 with a 29 3 blade

The river run is at the end of July if he is there i'll ask more about his setup. It was the first time he reached triple digits.
That was my first summer with the boat and just a newby at the time.

Ive run the xtb I've got now for 5 years and it's my second. I've ran several different props on them but recently I borrowed a 28p 3 blade ally cut chopper by JC and it is by far the best I have run on an xtb. Normal fishing load with two guys bout 200 each I can squeeze 82-84 out of it. I'm running an old Bridgeport efi 10 inch setback and 1/4" under pad. If your running a 280 I think with a moderate load you should be well in the nineties. Empty you should be close to triple digits.jmo, hope this helps.

Id say 100 isnt out of the question.Octane's on teh board runs low 80s with a 150 promax.I saw 84.7 with it myself,I think it had a stock 26 chopper on it that day.His has 14" setback I believe. The xtb is a amazing hull I cant believe how well it handles big water, and how quick they are.

i think all suggestions are very true.. i don't have a 280 yet but i am looking.. the choice of the wheel is going to be a big part of this.. one thing for sure.. xtb 21.. might be the best boat he ever built..!!!!

I'm currently building a 260 cut to drag specs by Larry Mumford to run on my xtb. Running pump gas it may be a little soft on the bottom end but once it breaks over it ought a push the old fishing boat. I hope...

You will not be using a 29p to get there. The 280 has to turn a minimum of 7500 ,preferably 7800 to make it's power band. If you load it up with pitch in that loaded scenario it will not give you the power to do it. 26-27 pitch is more realistic, spinning it to the moon. 7700/1.87/26p/10% slip is 91.2 MPH.

Good Luck

The right Hydromotive prop will get you REAL close to the best possible speed with a 4 blade prop which offers great handling characteristics. Todd can fix you up! I'm not familiar with the XTB21 but on an XB2003, a Quad IV OT runs great.
