Do they do better than a regular promax on fuel?

That will work better on an XB2002.... ;-)

Did you ever follow up on the 2.5xs on Fastbass?

I juat got done running 50 miles and burned 9 gallons with mine. Speed ranged between idle and 102mph! Lol. Most running was 50mph or so.

Can you get revs and a lighter flywheel for these yet and what about tighter heads? Can you get them cut yet? I know a few years ago there wasnt a whole lot that could be done to these to make them even better than they are. O ring heads right was one of the problems.

Yes all 3 are possible. I was hoping he was going to say 6 or 7. I don't see 5.5 being much better than my 200/Svs combo.

Here is some data from my XB2003/225X using GPS and the SmartCraft monitor. Ideal weather/water conditions, very light load running a 28 Pro ET. 6gph @ 41mph, 7gph @ 48mph and 10gph @ 60mph. Previously had a 225ProMax and a 280, the X uses a lot less fuel.

I assume less oil as well. I mix 40-1 or 45 -1 depending how hard I plan on running+aces which from what I have read is an even better lubricant than octane enhancer

Why ask such mess...... it's a 2.5
I don't know. New optis are big money and optis out of warranty scare me. I don't carry a lot of gear so I don't think the torque is all that important to me. The 21 has already proved to be less weight sensitive than the xb2003 with the same motor..

No idea. Those numbers were by playing with the trim and jack plate settings to get the best results. Too busy at WOT to even try to record it.

If you don't want to go opti but want a 3.0 I would look for a nice 250xb, or that nice Promax Dave Hensley has for sale. Both are old school reliable.

Whatever power you decide on that is a sweet boat, I would like a 21 myself.

No comparison, the 280 was much stronger all through the rpm range than the Pro-Max or X Motor on the same boat with the same props. Loved that motor but at my age I knew it was just a matter of time until it hurt me. Ego and pride seem to outlive reflexes and skill, LOL
