Hi Everyone,
I have a 2.5 280 with 260 electronics and brucato pcu. Its a stock 2007 powerhead directly from Merc. (date stamp is actually 12/06.)
What would you recommend for spark plugs? (currently has Champions, don't have the # with me).
Make and number if possible please.
thanks gary

I have the same setup as you, I run NGK BR8HS, you can find them at most auto parts house for about 2- 3 dollars

Agree with either above...I run BR8HS-10's in mine with the exact same electronics (260 with a pcu) in one of my 280. Runs great.

Hey All, Thanks for the prompt feedback. This may be a dumb question..... I am familiar with the BR8HS but what is the -10's mean?
And so I ask for BR8HS-10?

Also, I think mine came with Champion QL77JC4.

marty is correct..... 8's are a hotter plug, good for lake use. dont foul out as easy. the -10 means they are pre gapped from the factory. run the br8hs the r is resistor. the pcu can act funny sometimes on a non resistor plug. i never cared for the champion plugs in a merc, but i had a friend who ran them with his 260 and pcu for years... they are cheaper.

If you get the pregapped plugs, make sure you check them at home. I had to go thru and regap them all. I bought 20 plugs (I likes me some spares) and the gap ranged from .020-.036 and I wanted them all at .033-.035.

Is there any reason not to stick with the Champion QL77JC4?
Actually, I've had no issues, just looking at alternatives and what everyone else recommends. Just making sure I'm doing the right thing.
