Mercury said during the recent Miami Boatshow that they are working again at Lake X and they WILL phase 2 strokes completely out of their lineup, including the XS line! The EPA and the larger segments of the market have essentially killed the 2 strokes future. I seriously doubt you'll even seen any upgrades or "next gen" of the 2 stroke XS. The last two (the 115 and 150) entrants into the latest XS lineup have been 4 strokes. Mercury says they have a new motor coming soon, I think you'll see a 250 4 stroke replacement for the best selling 250 XS. (Gotta admit after owning my 300Yam 4stroke now for over a year, I really don't see any benefits of the 2 stroke on boats big enough to safely and easily handle these size and weight motors. Now that we have Opti-XS motors with over a decade on them, IMO we are beginning to see how expensive these DFI systems are to work on and replace parts on when they get age on them.)
