Brian, you won't like the 6000RPM limiter! It has a 1:1.85 ratio too! So.... get ready for high 80's. Boo. :)

Would be cool if they made a 15" model with a sportmaster, light weight cowl and stripped it down a little more on the weight. Us performance guys don’t need all that sound deadening material etc. lol
They showcase it on a pontoon. I don't think we're the market they're looking for... not enough sales.

Whoever tries it first will have the slowest, fugliest XB2002 in existence. Not the answer for re-power on an 800-1000lb boat. The 150 3 liter XS would be the better choice.

Mercury said during the recent Miami Boatshow that they are working again at Lake X and they WILL phase 2 strokes completely out of their lineup, including the XS line! The EPA and the larger segments of the market have essentially killed the 2 strokes future. I seriously doubt you'll even seen any upgrades or "next gen" of the 2 stroke XS. The last two (the 115 and 150) entrants into the latest XS lineup have been 4 strokes. Mercury says they have a new motor coming soon, I think you'll see a 250 4 stroke replacement for the best selling 250 XS. (Gotta admit after owning my 300Yam 4stroke now for over a year, I really don't see any benefits of the 2 stroke on boats big enough to safely and easily handle these size and weight motors. Now that we have Opti-XS motors with over a decade on them, IMO we are beginning to see how expensive these DFI systems are to work on and replace parts on when they get age on them.)

Just bought an Evinrude 150 HO with a ten year warranty. I am sticking with 2 strokes. The DFI motors are a lot more complex than my old Promax but as noted, so are 4 strokes

I would love to know BRP (Evinrude's) strategy on staying two stroke while all others are switching over but I hope they are successful.

Old thread, but the G2 has lower emissions, and better mileage than four strokes, especially at high RPM.

Eventually we will do an unfair economy test. S2000 w/200XS vs water ski boat (J Craft) with 150 HO Etec. Cruise rivers and locks for a day and compare fuel use. The 150HO is very fuel efficient skiing. I am still breaking in the 200, running 4000-5400 (55-80).

Do you suppose the Merc 4 Stroke 150XS would work as well as the 150HO?

It's a good question, the Etec 2.6 150 HO is a great engine. I think it could be close, and the 4 stroke is sort of easy to tune. The Etec has a small weight advantage.

We have a new Grand Sport we might test the new 150 ProXS on, as well as some other 4 cyl 4 strokes.
