The valve actuators replacing camshafts, chains, etc. would be a real game-changer. I wonder if Mercury is on top of this?

The 557 are simply inboards hanging out board to simplify service and to greatly increase room in the vessel. Saw a 46 foot sport boat on a local lake here, go figure that, with three 557's. I asked the guy that owned it "Why"? That was his answer. Modular engines and the boat inside is clean from engine access and smell.

I wonder if a torque converter could be used with a high rpm 4 stroke to help the boat plane.
