250 Etech 16inch mid raised limiter  a 2.5 225X would be sweet also. Anyone ever get down to making mods for these yet? The 2.5 OPTI was made pre 3l also right after the X but rare and good from what I've heard.Only made one or two years I think? Not exactly sure what year.

I think the 250 Etec would be too much weight for my SS, although I love the 115 HO on my Baja. I'd buy a clean local 225X tomorrow. In the spring, if it arrives, I'll try to sell my XR4. If it sells, that will force my hand.

Yes, I have heard the rude is a weak 200 and the 175 proxs is a strong 175. Both suposedly make +/- 190 ish...

I was pming with a tech and they said although torque falls off above 6K HP keeps building..he implied some cut heads, raised limiter, solid mounts, and a sporty and you would have the 200 XS...

If I found one used for the right dollars it would be cool to send the ECU to simon, use my titus case.

He cautioned against the head cutting, but saw no harm in letting it rev...

Does Merc make a standard 175 Opti? The only 175 I know of that they make anymore is the 175 ProXS...which is an opti engine, I believe.

I don't think they do. The Proxs is carbon reeds, stiffer mounts and a graphics package over the older standard opti (there may be some other small difference).

Both the Vmax hpdi and Proxs 175's are a little more stout compared to the ETEC 175. As noted, I have heard the 200 2.6L small-block ETEC is actually hair under 200 hp so if thats the case, they are probably pretty close in hp with the Yammie and Merc 175's.
