Curious about this motor (again). It seems that if you had a bad one...it was bad, but the good ones are still running strong. I know we had an XTB and maybe a Grandsport owner that was running the 2.5xs.

Anyone still here that can share some #'s/experience's on an Allison?

Thanks

Rock on S&F has a gen I 200xs on a xb02. We've never GPS'd it but we guess 92-93. It's UNBELIEVEABLY strong and the fuel mileage is unreal. If I can get the funds together in the next year or so I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy a new one.

I've only seen one. It was on a late model vegas. He ran pretty hard for that hull, 90 or better. He's from MN and was very impressed with fuel mileage. I don't know what the redline was on that motor but the rpm's hurt him in the drags. I'm sure the computer could be played with like the rest...

side note--darth v--we'll be at Tablerock--campbell point 7/21-5, xb02 and a ss

drags at Omaha 7/20--run what ya brung--not far away from ks

Ah CRAP! We may be having our Shop Beach PArty that weekend (7/19-21). I will see if they want to move it to Table Rock LOL~ You are going to be at Omaha on the 20th and the Rock on the 21st?

6800 was the limiter for the 2.5xs

Doesn't me either..... Why put any 3L junk on it?

The new 200xs shows peak HP @ 6500-7000..... Anyone know what the limiter is set at?

The gen 2 200xs is a sweet unit but, not ever putting a new motor on my 23 yr old XB2002 AND must have a 20" mid. Also, never would I shell out that kind of coin without a 2-3 yr warranty min. I am just finding out more about them right now....and seeing whats out there. Sequestration will kill my search quickly but...still looking.

Yeah no warranty is a bit on a 16k engine but if I repower it'll be with a used 200xs Powerhead..... Just out of curiosity why wouldn't you run a short shaft on your 02?

With 3 little ones I truly use my boat as a fish-n-ski. During mid summer, I do as much kneeboard/tube pulling and skiing as I do fishing. My VMAX is a 17.5" shaft but has traditional exhaust. The 15" SS MErcs are too much of a pain...especially with kids falling off and all the ideling around bringing ski ropes and tubes back to them.

I fully understand. Was just curious. Sounds like your boat is more of a SUB! ;)
Exactly!

If I did a bunch of lake "racing" and goofing off, I know of a NICE low hour 225x SS that would work awesome on my rig!

I do the 02 sub gig. Ski pole, wide console et al. I run a 15 for prides sake. 225x ss should put you over the century mark. Yes, drags on 7/20 and Tablerock on 7/21. How many hulls can do that?

Is the 2.5XS too heavy for an SS2000? There's one around my area for sale, 2005. I think it's overpriced at $12000. That's like two promaxes, which would cover a lot of gas.

I don't know. Its listed at 450 but thats empty of fluids and prop.

12K seems really high. Maybe if it was still new in a crate.

You can get the 200xs on a 15" but really doesnt save much b/c the offshore clamp is a lot heavier than a std clamp
