I have never heard of 315ish type HP numbers come out of a stock 300xs. A 300x...for sure.
It seems there is a much bigger jump in speed when going from a 225xs to a 250xs than there is from a 250xs to 300xs.
Whoops. Sorry.Not talking about a 225x. I am talking about a 3.0L 225xs opti.
I got 10 MPH difference on my XB21, comparing my best speed with a 225X vs a 250XS.Serious? A 250XS is that much stronger than a 225X? What kind of boat are we talking?
I'm considering doing a 22 Talon with twins or an Allison SS2000. I thought the 225X would be the perfect motor because of its light weight and performance and reliability?
What's a 225X weigh compared to a 250XS? It's 390 pounds vs. 505 pounds? Roughly?
Mike
Which motor was faster? Am I correct on the weight difference?I got 10 MPH difference on my XB21, comparing my best speed with a 225X vs a 250XS.
Correct,03-05 all require higher octane. The 05 is the best out of the box with its 6400 limiter. The 03-04 had a 5850 limiter which made it hard to prop but is the exact same motor as the 05 on everything else.Simon flashes the computer so that the limiter is 6800 on any of the 3 years. The lightend does helf as well as the aluminum compressor pully off a newer motor. When I did the hydrotec tuner I spent a lot of time gasket matching/port and polishing the divider plate and tuner. Not that any one thing was a mind blowing difference but it all combined made for a strong runner.I keep hearing that the early 250xs motors were a 270-ish hp motor in stock form and the later ones (post 2005?) up to the current ones are noticeably not as strong. Does this coincide with the fuel changing from 91 octane to 87 octane or did that come later?
Sorry for the hi-jack, I am just curious.
