2007 2.5 280 "added some pics"
added a short video on page 2.
I rebuilt a 07 280 over the winter while my drag was being reniced.
It can be a super stock motor or a awesome lake 280.
History:
Merc forgot a wrist pin clip and the pin tore up the cylinder with 10 hours on it. Merc replaced the entire long block. It sat from 07 to 11 at the dealer.
I guess they forgot about it.. Anyway I bought it, and had ruck put a sleeve in it. Put all new 2 ring wizard stock replacement pistons, and pins.
I hand picked the rods so it would be balanced w/o grinding on the rods, pistons, pins. Each piston, rod together with pins and bearing are within 1 gram. Super stock motors you can't modify any parts. So it has a balanced rotating assembly w/o any mods. 100 o/o stock block, front half, reed plate, horn. Im running all drag electronics on it, but selling just the long block.
The one cc of the head has some minor dings from debri. It was just smoothed out so it would be stock. ODBA official said it is legal.
I can change out the top cap for 280 elec, and put on a 280 horn if desired.
It has a drag horn on it now.
This motor has 15 hours on a digital hour meter since rebuild.
I built this motor for my drag boat hopping to run super stock at Jasper, but it isn't in the cards this year. I figured i would break it in on the 2002.
Anyway 6000.00 for the long block
Your not going to find any 280 this new because they were not sold except as power heads only. This one has a total of 25 hours since new.
