whats everyone prefer these days?

How much of a weight advantage does the string have and how much maintenance does it need to stay tight and adjusted?

Do you have to reinforce the dash to put a hydro helm in?

Cost would be about the same either way to finish the string I think or go hydro?

Boat has steering wheel , steering pulley and cables. Would need wing plates, wing plate pulleys and another adapter plate for motor that can take wing plates.

I would go hydraulic all the way! Zero torque steer great feel and not going to effect speed at all. Zero maintenance also. whats not to like.

I've had three boats with hydraulic. Love it. But never on an XR. And half the string steering is there.

Will prolly go hydraulic. This is wing plate string steering not cable steer like on boats before hydraulic.

I would only go with string on an XR. They're way too twitchy for hydraulic. You need the direct feedback.
