My boat has an hydraulic jackplate and I was told this past weekend that it'd be best to get rid of it. Said it would cause more problems than it's worth. Any thoughts on this?

If you fish, it's OK. If you go fast it can get you in trouble.
+1. Depends on intended use.

I wouldn't take it off unless you are trying to cut weight or it is malfunctioning. But be careful adjusting it @ WFO!

They are great for ease of dialing in a new prop, and for adjusting to changing loads and water conditions.

Just need a mark on it for prop shaft even with the pad, so u know what height u are running. I have one and am keeping it u can adjust for different props and water conditions.

I run a Bobs Hydraulic and have the guage that shows 1/4 inch increments, works great for me. I know which light on the guage not to go past.

I wonder if his gauge will work with other Hydraulic Jackplates. I'm not sure if mine is a Bobs, it has Allison on the sides.

I use the coon *** method on my bobs, marked it with a piece of yellow electric tape at prop center.
