How much difference would it make to go from 12" to 14" setback?

One more thing, what is the opinion on hydraulic jack plates? I have a CMC 5 1/2 self contained jack plate that is in good shape. Should I stack 2 plates?

Depends.
Usually
Less set back = better hole shot.
More set back = better load carrying ability.

We got the 225X on this weeknd and 11" seems to work nicely. Now I just need to learn to drive.

Yep.........for sure Dave........it worked as well as our 13.5" of setback. I thought your boat handled great.........and Matt and I had a GREAT time with you and your boat.

We didn't have it loaded very heavy........maybe that was the difference?
It was even lighter once I took a hundred pounds of tools out of it. 
It was a great weekend that is for sure. Thanks for all the help getting it setup right the 1st time too. How many rookies can put one together and run that good the 1st time in the water? I am anxious to get some gages and seat time so I can learn to drive!
