XB2002 Engine suggestions

I am in the process of looking for a clean XB2002. What would be the engine of choice to get the best performance from a XB2002? I have a 2011 Pro X/S 250 I was thinking about using but have been told I would be better off with a 2.5 liter engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely want a 2.5. I would go 260 or 280. They are a lot of fun on a XB02.

200XS. Reynolds Racing Marine still shows a used one on their site

Of course any 200 will seem tame if you move to it from a 260/280. I converted from a 225 PM to the 200XS. The 200XS has a lot more range - burns way less gas, and the performance is close enough

Yep I was talking to Glen at Reynolds yesterday he’s local. Currently have him looking for me a boat. He says he is working on a deal on one so who knows. If I can buy one turn key that would be great also.

Could not be happier...Got it from Glenn two Seasons ago. 2013 Gen 2. The 2 is the best option if you can one.
Great performance, cooper efficient.
