Thanks Bob.Generic answer...can't comment on the XR but...our first GS had a 20" 225x PM. Loved it, gone in a storage fire.
Our second GS has a 15" 200xs...love it more. Feels more stable at cruise, better hole shot, lower COG.
Trimming changed a lot had to start all over there...View attachment 14745View attachment 14746
SS2000 here and like Robert I went from 20” Promax to 15” 200XS. For me it was also a change from coned CLE to Sportmaster and from 1.87 to 1.75 gears. A lot of changes besides the length clouds the comparison. Same prop my Promax had better hole shot. Not much difference at 90 mph in ease of control or in how easy it is to get to 90. The 200XS is strong. I trim by feel and don’t notice the difference. I would not spend the money to swap if I had a 20 mid.
No..but the first thing I did was get a lower cowl,The 15 looks cooler but is heavier. Trim system different too. Pump is in boat on a 15". A long time ago Merc was selling 15" 150 Pro Max for $7000 which included warranty, 15 inch mid, and Sportmaster 1.87. Nobody was buying 15" 150's. Wonder why? I bought one. I still have that mid and SM--on a XB02.
RC--did you have any trouble getting the powerhead wet when u went to a 15"?--coming off plane?
