tore down a 2.5 200 today with wiseco pistons. 2 pistons had failed on opposite sides, 2 & 5. 1 of the rings had rotated and the ring pin was still in place. the ring was under the pin. anybody seen that before? motor was real wet and oily. small area of gaulding/melting on both pistons.

Must have been a sloppy bore.

2 melted pistons, could have been bad gas "low oct" if your running higher comp.
To much timing could do it too.

only had .004"-.005" clearance. i thought wiseco needed .008"?
otherwise, i'm guessing low octane.

I've seen the ring locater pin sink as well as come out , the end result is the same. BOOM !
A forged piston on a steel sleeve engine ( 2.5 ) will need .008" total piston to cylinder wall clearance std bore and 1/2 a thou. each over size jump added to the clearance..

Works for me..
