Will a 260/280 powerhead bolt up to to a '85 2.4 mid? And if so will the lower handle the rpms? Found a deal on a 280 drop on, thanks alot!

280 unless has 260 electronics will have to have a alein cowling then your also gonna need a 1 peice adapter plate and 280-260 tuner
depending on what gearcase should be ok

A preload pin gearcase won't live long under a 260. Ask me how I know...:big grin
If its a stock 200 non-preload case, be a good idea to pin the carrier.
