Anyone ever replace there Sportmaster propshaft seals? If so, how involved is the work? Is this a DIY project if I order the correct tools like the bearing carrier wrench (91-61069)?

Thanks in Advance,

Neil

you can replace the seals without pulling the carrier out. Just pull the old ones out clean the seal are with contact cleaner use red loctite and put the new ones in. You can use a piece of pvc the put the seals in. Also pay attention as to witch way the seals go, the first one is to keep the oil in the second is to keep the water out. I put a total of 3 seals in, it just does fit I put the third the same as the second. Hope this helps

Take one of your old seals to your local auto parts store and have em match a replacement.

Mercury seals are somewhere between $25.00-$30.00 each vs. a CR (Chicago Rawhide) seal at $6.00 each.
They are the same seal, so you are not compromising the repair.
