Promax poppet/Water tell tale

Just swapped my 260 to a Promax. Have two questions. Poppet valve is new but is leaking water out of the side through a small 1/4 hole? What is this hole and why the leak?

Second how long until the telltale releases water? Idled in barrel for 5 minutes or so, great water pressure, running cool, never had water through telltale.

Need to fix poppet leak so I can run it and see how much I will miss the 260.

Something is wrong with the gaskets. I just replaced mine and forgot to remove the old gasket from the motor side and it leaked as you described. Water will not come out of the pisser until the thermostats open. Idling may not get it warm enough for the water to come out.

Appears to be a vent hole. All new gaskets and complete new poppet assembly from pro marine. I'll take it back apart.
