Planning to restore gelcoat ( remove oxidation) on my XB2002. Which type polisher would be best for a novice?

Orbital works for fine glazing and waxing. The circular will remove more material but if you are careful can also be used for final work also. Makita makes an adjustable buffer that works well. Higher speed heats the surface up and helps cutting. Slower speed keeps surface cooler and gives better final polish. White wool pad cuts better. Foam pads are better for final polish.
