Offshore midsection?

What is the purpose of an offshore midsection? My boat has a 2.5 and is loud. Will changing it out to through the hub exhaust quiten it down and how big of a job is it to change?

exhaust comes out the motor before getting to the prop. pull the powerhead and lower unit. then disconnect the motormounts and then put the new center section, just reverse the process

Which offshore mid do you have? Some have the ability to put a plate in there to block it off.

Look up under into the 4” hole in the back and you will see a cross member that will accept a bolt or you won’t see anything. Mine is hollow all the way thru

The 20” smoothback has 4 bolt holes in the snout, the ridgeback doesn’t have anything I don’t think.

if its the boat im thinking it is, its a true offshore mid and someone cut the snout off at an angle

Are their any advantages of an offshore vs stock mid?

nope stock offshore, only advantage that i know of is its stronger

most exhaust on offshore mid goes out before reaching the prop so you have a less slippage

LIKE THIS....I made a close out plate which would divert most exhaust thru the hub.
I ended up drilling out all the holes 'sept the top corners.
She's not happy,'til I'm not happy.
