For those of you who don’t get or didn’t read your OBDA Newsletter... this is some good stuff!

Day two of the showdown dawned much as day one, a typical southern sultry summer day. Typical that is until a number of Modified Production racers ready to do battle slipped into the Coosa. To say the competition was fierce is an understatement. Several passes called for video recall. Fourteen entries started the Sunday program for the Wetumpka event. Randy McCormick draws Glen Reynolds and Randy advances to the losers’ bracket, Chiason defeats Kim Clecker, Bruce Tripp over Darrin Baxter, Dean Jones over Brad Lovelace, Richard Hammontree beats Casey McClellam, Lousiana’s Jerry Petiffer overTed Kline, and Scottie McClure defeats Jimmy Melton.

As the smoke cleared four boats remained in contention. Jimmy Melton from Milton Florida and Bruce Tripp lined up a pair of Allison race boats with Mercury outboards outback :p The identical set ups produced another video inspection by the race judge. Tripp is declared the winner. Melton takes fourth spot. Next up to the line is Jerry Pettefer from Sulfer Louisiana racing his Mercury powered Triad. Another video run and once again Tripp prevails. Then the games begin as Tripp faces Glen Reynolds of Harriman Tennessee and his Allison. First attempt at the light Tripp waves off, possibly to try to break Reynolds concentration. Next approach Reynolds pushes the lights putting Tripp on the defensive. Reynolds pulls ahead at the line and holds his lead to the big orange buoy taking his second Modified Production title in a row!

Congratulations to Glenn! Reading that I could smell the race fuel and Klotz in the air… :p
