Had a "wait a minute" moment when uncovering the XTB this week. I usually replace the plugs every spring but I bought the motor used and assumed they were the right plugs. The 1997 2.5L 200 EFi came with NGK BUHW plugs. The NGK websight doesn't list back that far. Any suggestions on how to confirm the best plug for that motor? Thanks in advance.

If you have the manual for the motor.... I would go for the direct NGK crossover recommendation for what Merc used.

Jay/ Roy- At Bob's suggestion, I dug up an original manual and the NGK it calls for is the BU8H, not the BUWH's that were in the motor. Both of these are surface gap plugs. Sounds like the BR9HS and BR8HS are traditional centerpole and hook plugs. Any issue with piston clearance? pacman
