OK men,

Been away from the Aboats for a couple years and having thoughts of picking up a XB03 up I see for sale with no motor.

Anybody running a newer style Merc PRO or PRO XS on a XB03? Haven't looked up weights but figure the 4 stroke is heavy.

Just curious as I would think it would be tremendous fuel mileage! My FIL is running a Yamaha 4 stroke on a Ranger and we never seem to need fuel and that is saying something.

Here is a seat of the pants comparison:

Old boat - 1994 Stratos 201 with 225 OMC carb

current boat - XTB with 2.5XS

XTB probably goes 3+/- times further at cruising speed than the 201. Of course, the XTB is lighter and more efficient, so I can only speculate how much of the increase is boat and how much is motor.

If you are talking about a 150/175 Pro xs then there will be no weight/handeling issues at all. I have not seen a comparison between the new 150 Pro 4-stroke and a 150 Pro xs. It would be interesting to see which is more effecient.

The 175 proxs gives you 6K rpm to play with. 5800 for the 150 4-stroke, and 5750 for the 150 proxs.

431 lbs for the Pro xs vs 455 lbs for the 150 Pro 4-stroke. They are both light enough for an XB2003

Hope you stick with the Ally. Be cool having two down on the sandbar. If you find a 2+2 that would give me somthing to drool over.

Pulled this off of the Allison FB page.

225 Pro XS / XB2003 (88 mph)
This boat had a stock case, "these 200 and 225 have pickups in the nose for increased engine height capabilities. 28 trophy not sure of gearing but I could spin the engine 6100 no matter the load. Could've pulled off 100 with more gear or wheel. The gear case needed to be longer too. Hydraulic plate worked well. Boat was a 97 with ALOT of lip.

I'm gonna go 300xs and let y'all know how it works.
You know, just thinking out loud here. There is a member here (Robert) that has a very low hour 300xs. He is selling his XB21 but has ran into some difficulty becasue of having a 300 as opposed to the 250 (which most bass fisherman want).

You two ought to get together.
