I just read about Allison and can't believe I've never heard of them before! I live on Lake George in New York. We're year-round residents and like outboards because we stretch the season into the cold months and don't have to worry about them freezing. We have been disapointed in the lack of variety of outboard models out there. I'm curious about pricing... Can someone give me a rough range on the sport boats? I'm not interested in a bass boat but am thrilled that the bass boats have driven such great design ideas. What are the past models names with seating for 4 so that I can shop the boats for sale? Thanks in advance and I can't wait to learn more about these great boats!!

Thanks for that link.. I missed that before. I could go with a used older project boat that I'm saving a 115 straight 6 Merc for (I would like to rat this motor, it's such a classic) or we will be needing to replace our family boat with something and we would like to go away from the I/O to an outboard. The project boat would be an extra fun boat for me and my kids while the pleasure boat would have to be a little bigger and more comfortable (our lake is 30 miles long and can get rough)... but still fast! Thanks

Cris, Welcome to the board! It sounds like you should be looking at the Super Sport or Grand Sport since you don’t fish at all…. Seating for 4 is not a problem at all in these boats, however a center steer limits you to one up front but handles beautiful. Either way there is a learning curve when you get your first Allison, but after you got it, you got it!

Also since you use to be a crew member on the U-3 Unlimited Hydroplane I think you might want a 225,260 or 280 2.5 Merc… How fast do you want to go…GPS (not on the boat speedo)?

If you ever get back to the Tri-Cities I’ll be glad to take ya for a ride in a fish model. Being you have been here on the Columbia you know how it can turn from glass into the rough stuff with a lot of chop and the Allisons Boats flat handle it.

Finding a used Allison hull is pretty reasonable and may take a while, but it’s well worth the wait.
