2002 225x for sale

Is this a good price for a 2002 225x?

Mercury Promax 225x factory stock - $4700

This is a 2002 Merc 225x Racing Outboard, bought new in 2004. FRESH WATER USE ONLY

VERY HARD TO FIND Completely factory stock and has not been altered in way. It has an alien lightweight cowling, sportmaster lower unit with fat shaft.

It has the bassboat mid with exhaust going thru the prop so it isn't noisy like an offshore or drilled midsection, it has integrial trim & tilt.

With only 204 original hours of run time. Compression is 130 even. Motor runs on premium pump gas.

This motor is in perfect mechanical condition, paint and decals all good.

Motor ran 92 mph on a 20 ft Bullet bass boat.

Also includes motor stand as shown and key switch box (not shown)

I emailed the seller a few days ago but have yet to hear back.

I thought it was a good price, but I havent been able to compare it to anything except catfish123's motor (his was a 2004 though)

Practice due diligence in checking it out

To put it into perspective:
A good used Sportmaster will typically go for around $2500.
So you are getting a 2.5 powerhead, cowl, mid and controls for roughly another $2200.

Great price, but I am almost positive I've seen that same ad out of Louisiana that turned out to be a scam. The sticker on back of the cowling looks awful familiar, and I think that's where I remember seeing it.

You should post the pic of the back of the cowl on S&F maybe someone there in that vast audience will reconize it? That price isnt that far off for a quick sale these days. But as mentioned dudiligents will be your safety net. Ive seen 225PM go for way under 5 lately so early 225X for 4700-5000 is were there heading with everyone wanting the XS now. Its hard to believe but 2011 is in a month and a bit!!:gasp Thats a 10 year old motor.
