HDS5 Lowrance; vertical lines

I have an HDS5 Lowrance in the bow of My new XB21 Bassport Pro and the transducer is attached to my trolling motor. It is not the built in kind of transducer rather attached externally.

My problem is that I get a lot of vertical lines all across the display. What is wrong with this unit? Thanks for any reply.

.... as in interference type lines? Might be a ground or wire shielding issue. Where does it get power and ground from?

I'd try easiest fix first. Try moving the transducer, even if it means just holding it in another location by hand to see what happens. Then, if necessary, maybe explore wiring.

Interference! I used a skimmer type puck, like what is used on the transom. That extra little distance away solved my interference problem.
