I have a 17ft xst bas boat with 2.7L gt 200, i have a rite-hite jackplate with 6in of set back, but it don't raise my motor very high, it's 5in below pad now, I have a pro hijacker plate that will get it higher if I change them out. I'm going to get low water pickups and nose cone soon, I was wanting to know how much of a difference it would make in being able to turn a larger prop easier by bringing motor up 4in or so with a chopper prop. Currently I run 71 on gps with my 24p chopper, I'm wanting to be able to get boat in the 80s eventually. thanks for all the help

It would make a HUGE difference. 5 inches under is COMPLETELY buried. Get the new plate and start an inch or two or so under and work from there. You won't need a cone till you get to 80 or so. In fact, until then, a cone will actually hinder you. Oh, you're going to need some taller wheels, too. There's no totally free lunch when searching for speed. Good luck.
