Will a group 27 battery fit in the battery box under the oil tank? Always had group 24 or 34 batts in there in the past. When this one goes, I may replace it with a group 27 if it'll fit.

If it's the same length as a PM1 from sears then I don't think it will fit.

A Walmart EverStart 27 deep cycle fits in mine.

PM1 is a group 31 = 13" long; 9.5" tall
Group 27 = 12.46" long; 8.75" tall
If the PM1 was close.....the group 27 might fit.

Then I would say yes. The PM1 was real close to fitting in without actually dropping it in and then having to cut it out.
