I would estimate no more than 110-115 miles for an entire 30 gallons.

If its 90 miles, you should be good. I've run that same distance with my 24 gallon in the GS. It came back on fumes, but I made it. With 6 extra gallons, you'll have plenty.

Were you wfo. Most tourney guys run wfo. I know I could've made that in my Xb03/280ss but would've been at cruising speeds. I'm curious to know just how much he's capable of. I got 230 miles outta 22 gallons with my 200xs.

Yeah, but he's an Allison...his WFO, is at least 20+ mph over the next fastest, so he won't need to run wfo all day... :gasp :big grin :big grin

I wasn't WFO, but I was lugging around with 4 people in the boat all day with a lot of wtart and stops, which is sometime worse. My boat gets sh!tty mpg at 35-40 mph...

Ran loaded from Kissimmee to Okachobee and back on around 28 gal. and we did some wide open runs along the way. Not sure on the miles but it was a long way!

Thats a long way...I'm sure its well over 100 miles. A few years ago, we did a run from Downtown Kissimmee, to the lock south of River Ranch, with a few detours in the lake, and it was 110 or 115 miles per my GPS. :cool

My experience with my 2003 w/280 was a mpg best of 3.5mpg most of the time with 2 people live well full was about 3mpg. That motor just loves fuel!!

Buckmaster,

97 GS, 05 280, 30 Triton, elevation 1100feet. Been doing mileage checks
for a long time. 4000rpm-48mph-3.5mpg. 5200rpm-70mph 3.5mpg.
3600rpm-42 mph-4mpg. I like to do the long distance cruises,100 miles
I'd definitly take 5 gallons extra, can't hurt, you'll always use it. Never
know how the wind and water will be.

1/2 way between the Gay Bay and LA.
I agree with Blob-head. When in doubt, error on the side of caution! 40+ lb limit won't do any good within sight of the weigh-in standing on the trolling motor a Minuit after "Your Time Is Up!"
Then if word gets back here you'd be Black Listed for sure!

Maybe 'tis meant 130 miles on 22 gallons? That's almost 6 mpg, and much more likely.
The gps logged 220 something miles and I turned it on shortly after we left. Topped it off and it took 22 gallons. I meant 230, not 130. I could fish 4-5 times on the same tank. Call it 10 mpg.

I bought a 7 gallon auxiliary fuel tank from a board member for my 03. No more sweating the fuel level when I got her skint back on the way to weigh in!!!
