Got a new Skid Planner from Allison for a 93 Xr2001. The instruction sheet which I suspect is generic specifies mounting it 3" up from the pad. Anyone have an opinion about whether it should be mounted at a different height?

Until such time as I replace my 2.0 with a 2.5 I wish to run it. The 2.0 is sitting on top of a 2.5 one piece tuner to facilitate cable steering. I recently saw a comment about "restricting the water outlet to avoid cold seizing" when using this combination. Haven't put the boat in the water...

OK, I'm tired of messing with the vast selection of used Merc parts out there to make what ultimately has become my Franken Merc. The parts are old and prone to failure and probably out of date technology wise. Frankly, I don't think I have enough time to learn what the brain trust here...
