not the way I understand it.
The head will be turning 360 so the boat does not have to move to update the picture.

Actually neal, yes. The transducer would be just below ice level & should be able to spot rock piles &/or variations in bottom contour. Nothing worse than being 20' off. Gps can get you close from year to year, but that should be able to pinpoint exactly what you want to be fishing over. All theory- but sounds good. Lol
