Yes Jay, on #2 the locator pin came out of the top of the piston, but only part of the pin.

It looks like the pin came part way out, must have smacked the head and bent it over and snapped it off leaving part of the pin still in the piston holding the rings and the other part danced on top of the piston and head making the marks on the head and piston
