AUBURN -- Tommy Tuberville is out as Auburn's football coach,
The Birmingham News has learned.

An official announcement could come today. It was unclear whether Tuberville was fired or resigned.

Tuberville was 85-40 in 10 years at Auburn, and is 110-60 in 14 years as a college head coach. His final season at Auburn ended with a 36-0 loss to Alabama last Saturday to finish off a disappointing 5-7 record.

Tuberville met with Athletics Director Jay Jacobs on Tuesday and again today. He met with university President Jay Gogue on Monday.

Tuberville is fourth all time in wins in Auburn. He was the fourth-longest tenured coach in school history.

His Tigers finished the 2008 season with a record of five wins and seven losses. He also had his six-game winning streak snapped last week.

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Tommy Tuberville stepped down Wednesday after 10 years as Auburn's coach, a reign that included a perfect season and a string of overachieving teams but ended with the worst record of his tenure. FOX Sports

What a bunch of morons over there in the Plains. They will be in the hunt for a new coach for at least 5 years. He had one bad season and there ready to fire him. He is a great coach he will be missed there eventually.
