What is the purpose of the little half circle cut out on the top back corner of the skeg. I see this on alot of lu that on Ally boats. Mine doesn't have this. What's the advantages?

It is supposed to keep the skeg from cracking up near the torpedo. Sometimes that works but most times they will still crack if run super high or with the gearcase "crabbing". The tab is added on afterward and is not part of the original casting. While not as strong as the original skeg on a CLE or Sportmaster they mod'd cases handle better.
