if your's is just hard to turn, lube em like john said. my xb-2002 is an 88 model. The cables are stamped 1987. Steering was really difficult, Saw the luber and I lubed mine, made a world of difference. I bought 2 pieces of the plastic hose so I did not have to keep switching from cable to cable, put a quick disconnect on end of each hose, slid the hose on each cable, clamped em, removed the grease zerk from the other end of the cable, filled em with ATF and just kept pressure on and kept hose full..just remove the disconnect and refill the hose and re-pressue. worked great..

Thanks for the replys. Yes I have been lubing mine for some time
now, but they are at the point now that the lubing hasn't been
helping. They are so bad now I'm concerned about their safety.

Thanks again

They valving is different on the Allison-designed Hi-perf cylinder. The hi-perf cylinder is also keyed on each side where it goes through the steering tube so that the two sides move up and down together. THe regular model is not keyed and each side moves separately (allowing for more play).

Thanks for the information. I haven't heard anyone say they were
sorry they went to the Sea Star Pro steering. Mine should be in this
week. My steering cables have been gradually getting worse for some
time. Looking forward to having good smooth steering again.
