Allison Newbie- Boat Wanted

I'm looking to get an Allison ss-2000 or grandsport (message me if you have one for sale). I wanted to know if I can run a 15" mid shaft? I would be using my future boat for boating on the Mississippi River. This isn't going to be a race boat but I want something that has some speed.

You can use a 15" mid. On the grandsport, you can use a 20" mid, but they don't look as cool. Lot's of discussion about lower center of gravity, probably more noticable difference in a positve way withe the SS. Only draw back is possible water ingestion with the shorter mid. I run the Columbia River with my 15" mid, and I haven't had water ingestion..... yet.

Lansing in June. Guttenberg 1st full weekend in August. (Hydrostream Rally or other name) Rally runs river up to Prairie.
