I recently bought one of those twist lock plugs with 2 wires coming off of it to use to charge both troling motor batteries at one time. It requires you to plug it into the receptacle on the bow that you normally have your troling motor plugged into, and to attach your charger wires to each of the wires on the plug. Does this apparatus work? I tried it and it seemed to work, as the charger did cycle off, but I am not sure if both batteries were charged. Any input would be appreciated. This is sure easier than trying to attach the charger to the batteries where I have them located on my XB2002. Butch Leslie

Yep works GREAT! If you have a shared starting/trolling battery both (all) the batteries are charged. Or I should say any batteries hooked up to the trolling motor are charged.

charging

If it has only two wires coming from it there could be a problem sometime. What I mean is if one battery is drained more than the other it will not be charged properly if you charge them both at the same time. You need three wires (one hot wire to each battery and they can share the ground).

gary- do you hook both pos leads up to the same pos on 1 battery charger? is this a special plug? cause I have an extra trolling plug and would like to hook it up like that.

It is supposed to be wired internally so that only 2 wires are exposed for the charger to hook up to. Bought it at a local boat dealer called Boat Stuff, but I think I saw them in the bass pro catalogue. Butch Leslie

I have a 12/24 evinrude trollong motor and my battery charger has the red marinco plug rigged on it. This charges both batteries at once and works fine. Only 2 wires are connected to it and the plug has a built in jumper on it.
