If I'm remembering how the timing works, from a 125' rope start it would take a whole bunch of motor as Your gonna probably be over 1,700 lbs... I'm not sure You gonna do it with a 2.5, probably gonna take a built 3.0 liter... Again, if I remember how that course works and I could be wrong...

That equates to a 12 second or so 1/4 mile time. I think you can get close with a 260 or 280. To give you an idea a lake racer boat in ODBA or DSRA at 1715-20 lbs will run a mid to high 10 second pass in a 1/4 on the rope. Measure out a course using a gps and some marker bouys and stopwatch it. Can probably get you close enough to know whether its worth showing up on raceday.

Based on my times last year, I would generally agree with the above statement. Your setup will need to be on to run that kind of number IMO. The optimal holeshot setup is a little tricky in the 2003.

You should be able to get a pretty good idea from the stopwatch while testing.

Patches,, a 1700 lb boat, with a 260 or 280,,,,`able to run "10 seconds In a 1/4 mile"????? :gasp That would take a heck of a prop!!!! Not saying it can't,,, But the quickest way to find out,,, is to come to any SDBA/ Lucas Oil race and get you a time slip!!!!!

Most 10 second Bracket outboards are about 1000 lbs,, with Built 260s and/or 300+ HP drags..,,,,,,,,,,. and sometimes,,, they even have their problems getting to 10.000 when the air gets bad! :help

Also at any sanctioned Lucasoilracing event,,, when you are talking about racing in a 1/4 mile,,, that's exactly what it is,,,, 1320' from Starting lazer to Finish Lazer!!! And yes,, you can make a 125' run at the lazer (plus or minus the length of your boat to the cock pit) from a DEAD STOP............................... But you better not cut a light earlier than .000 or you will turn on the RED LIGHT and lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But your 1/4 mile time, and your MPH's,, are always recorded to the 1000th of a second!

And Yes Bill Mason knows exactly what it takes to get you there! :wink

Also,,, there is a 1000' CASH race in Purcell OK this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Test and tune on Thursday,, qualifying starts on Friday,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Come out and get you a time slip or three! :)

This is where the times Erik came up with came from. This guy took his bass boat at 1720 lbs and put it on the rope and pedaled it to 10.80's with time slips. If it is a typical Allison bass boat he probly has to add close to or over 200 lbs to it to get to 1720. I would think on the conservitave side 200 lbs. is worth at least 4 to 5 tenths. So it still wouldnt run 10 flat but i bet he could get it close. And I would bet set up for the extra distance and not having to run spec. gas you could get it to 10.00

Guys he asked about 10's in 1000'!!! A 2003 with a 260 or a 280 will run this with some compression and a good 24P drag prop!

Also if he was trying to run a 1000' in 10 seconds and if he could do it, then that would mean that he can run a full 1320' in 12 seconds with no problem.
