I would opt for 24 V and a single lithium trolling batteries if budget allowed. If you have a trolling motor already, I would opt for lithium batteries before a new trolling motor if performance is your main concern...

Put a set of lithium trolling batteries in the nose, moving cranking battery to front of rear passenger storage box. run a promax prop that has a ton of bow lift. Weight distribution will be better than with 2.5. Lithium batteries and prop tech today didn’t exist in 1989 when these were made

I think even pitch promax have more lift may want to try 26 also

2.5 xs is not as strong as your 225 promax, my 250 is not as strong as his new 300.... That’s why I said the Xb21 will be faster. Not by a lot but 5 mph or more.

300xs Xb21 vs xb2003 2.5 xs? For sure Xb21 will win topend... that’s a 100 mph combination. Don’t see 2.5xs being a 100 mph combination on a 2003... maybe I’m wrong... my Xb21 250 set up for topend is 95+, 97 down river. 90 setup to be quickies, 93 downriver..

Your 2+2 depending on motor will likely end up faster and quicker than your xb2003

Leaning to left unless severely out of balance means trim Er up buttercup. Leaning right or a right bounce means tapper down

200 and xb2003 should be easy 85 mph setup. 90light and solo balanced well

I think the biggest issue will be finding a prop big enough Has to be a fun toy

250 or 300 opti or v8 both perform well/ similar. The v8 has very good manners.... I want to upgrade motors.

Make sure left to right balance is correct. If you weight 200 you better have 200 lbs on the left side...

Ps also... not outta motor. Likely setup and driving is all that’s needed. When I first moved to an allison it took me a whole summer to figure out setup and driving and get into the 80s...

Lchunt- 70s is transitional area where you first start to having to drive an allison. It’s where balancing your load and motors height becomes important. Any load and setup should go to 70 with minimal effort....... You are in for a treat. Get the balance, motor height and some time behind...

You need to measure prop to pad. It is the best way to verify where your motor actually is. All motors are not mounted in the same holes.
