I have a 2006 250xs MERCURY racing division motor it has 216 hours on it after reading some of the horror stories about the compressors it has me worried. At this time it is running perfect and the compressor is oem. But the new ones are supposed to be more reliable and stronger. If it goes out i could be out several thousand dollars and spread metal throughout the whole system. I do however add 8 to 10 drops of oil to the top of the compressor inlet each time i come back from fishing and also do this inbetween trips to make sure compressor is well oiled. Should i change the compressor out & is their anything else i can do to make sure this failure doesn't bite me. Also even as the new compressors have been out for a while you still read about failures. Anyone's help or advice would be greatly appriciated

How do those compressor's fail vs how a 200XS fails? The 200XS does not disintegrate, the engine just dies.
