Wow, yours is in tremendous shape...thank you for sharing. Mine has to have a new transom which will be composite as well. What motor are you putting on it?

I'm new here guys but I'm starting a 78' XST and never saw it addressed why it's a bad idea to remove the cap....I'd appreciate it if anyone could answer that.
